Spectacular 1800s French hand-painted armorial portrait plate with striking central image of a man in profile. Winged mythical creatures, half-man and half-beast, cavort with birds in wide graceful scrolling borders. Beautiful stylized floral inner borders. Marked "Gien France" with the company's three-spire castle mark used from 1871 through 1875.
